- Have stamina - don’t exhaust everything you know on the first question
- Answer the actual question - read the key words. Many wrote some good PEE paragraph points, that did not focus on mise-en-scene, and therefore did not answer the question)
- Media Language must be used more frequently, and confidently. It is literally what you get marks for. It’s how you show AQA you know what you are talking about.
- Media Theorists to support points. As above.
- Provide own examples other than those in the texts, especially in Q2 and 3. This wasn't as hard as it seemed, with many of you confidently bringing Netflix of Apple into answers.
- Evaluate - crucial for Q2 and 3. It is in the Mark Scheme. Purposefully argue against the question, just to make a point.
- DONT BE AFRAID OF THE PEE PARAGRAPH

Question 2 Model Answer
PLAN
- violence - moral panic, desensitisation
- anti-social - isolated, health issues, lack of social skills, addiction,
- gender bias - sexulisation of females, objectification of females, violent males.
One way the texts challenge the usual criticisms of gaming culture, is the lack of violence. Many texts have been criticised for desensitising audiences to violence, such as Call of Duty or Fallout. In the texts, we see individuals of all ages, participating in games that do not involve guns or shooting, and as such do not rely on the connotations of destruction or violence that the narrative of these games usually focus on.
Linking to that, both texts feature individuals sharing this experience in groups, which contrasts the usual criticism that gamers are isolated, and lack social skills. The DJ text in particular showed a large group of peers injecting energy and enthusiasm into their life, which suggests creativity and activity rather than laziness and isolation.
Question 3 Rewrite:
Why do media institutions celebrate new technology to market their products? You should refer to other media products to support your answer. (12 marks)
